CLINKERS and BURRS
Clinkers (from the onomatopoetic Dutch word) and burrs (multiple bricks fused together) are bricks that were overheated in the kiln during the firing process and ring when tapped together. Originally considered a waste product they became popular and profitable during the Arts & Crafts movement of the early 20th century.
